PTA Meeting

pta

Wednesday March 8 6:30pm

Meeting will be in the library.  This is a great opportunity to learn and find out what’s going on in our small school community and discuss any concerns you may have regarding Sanilso and our community.  We will have an update on our successful Winter Carnival and we’ll be discussing our next big fundraising event; Our annual Silent Auction Night.  So come bring your ideas, thoughts, and concerns and come meet fellow Sanislo parents!

March Event: SKATE PARTY

4th Grade Candy Bar Fundraiser Winners!

Congrats to the 4th grade class for their outstanding effort in helping to raise money for their camp later this year! They raised a total of $2,234.00 (half is profit). In the photo you can see Noah is 3rd, Daniel is 1st, and Emma is 2nd in highest sales. They all won prizes from the PTA and although Daniel won a brand new bike, he chose to give it to Emma since hers was recently stolen. We are very proud of you all and especially you, Mr. Toledo, for showing your Sanislo Spirit by being a respectful and responsible citizen through your compassion for Emma. Kudos to your parents too!

A Note from Principal Rhodes – Road Project in the Neighborhood

On Monday, November 30, both the north and south sides of the intersection at 15th Ave SW and SW Holden St were closed so crews could begin installing safety improvements. Improvements at this intersection will include new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – compliant curb ramps at each corner, a pedestrian crossing signal and crosswalks on the east and west sides of the intersection. Those needing local access to 15th Ave SW are encouraged to use SW Webster St to the north of SW Kenyon St to the south. This work is expected to last up to two weeks.

Also closed for up to two weeks, beginning on Monday, November 30, is the west side of the intersection at SW Kenyon St and 16th Ave SW. Crews are building pedestrian safety improvements to include new sidewalk, new and upgraded curb ramps and crosswalks. Those needling local access are encouraged to use SW Elmgrove St via 16th Ave SW to SW Kenyon St.

Crews are also working at the intersection at 16th Ave SW and SW Webster St to build pedestrian safety improvements, including new crosswalks, new sidewalk, and new ADA-compliant curb ramps.

Crews have begun pouring sidewalk and curb ramps. Weather permitting, this work is expected to be completed by December 8.

The intersection at 21st Ave SW and SW Andover St is almost complete with a final sidewalk to be poured on the NE corner of the intersection.

The Delridge-Highland Park Neighborhood Greenway will connect West Seattle to White Center, running generally along 21st Ave SW in the north and 17th Ave SW in the south. Construction started in late August and will take approximately 4 months to complete, weather permitting. In general, construction will move from north to south while crews complete paving work and install curb ramps and curb extensions. Later this month, crews will return to install crosswalks, pavement markings, and signage throughout the corridor.

With the onset of the rainy season, our contractor sometimes needs to shift its schedule to do work that can be done when it’s raining, such as demolition and site preparation. Crews will use the dry days to pour concrete and asphalt and to install pavement markings.

For more information about the project please visit our project website or view a PDF of the full project plans.

Feel free to contact our team (contact info below), forward this email to others who may be interested, or share this link, where they can sign up for email updates.

Thank you for your continued interest in making these key safety improvements a reality for your community.

Sincerely,

CJ Holt

First Grade Bake Sale

First Grade Bake Sale Flyer

This month is first grade’s turn to provide treats and support for the Friday Bake Sale!

Here is what we need from your grade:

Popcorn: Takes about 45 min-1 hour to pop 60-70 small bags of popcorn.  Popcorn popper is in the teacher’s lounge and instructions are on the door of the popcorn cabinet. 2 people:  one to keep popping, and one to bag

Bakery items:  Need 6-8 dozen (usually 3 people bringing something). Bring it in the morning or afternoon and put it in teacher’s lounge labeled “BAKE SALE”.

Selling:  If nice, it’s great to go outside.  Bring a table from the “cafeteria” (in front of the PC) 2 – 3 people are good.

Counting Money: Count money (it’s great if you can roll the coins) and put it in a manila envelope. The office has some. If there’s someone around that knows the combo to the gold box, put it in there. Otherwise, give it to Mr. Rhodes.
