Jog-A-Thon
It’s almost time for the 13th Annual Jog-A-Thon fundraiser on Thursday, May 24th. This is a high energy and fun event at which our students, staff and parent volunteers...
Hello, Go! Project Families:
Your involvement with the Go! Project last year helped to make it a great success. This was hands-down the most enjoyable program for me since I began with Feet First in 2005. The Go! Project is in its final weeks. Here are the upcoming activities and considerations, listed by time sensitivity. I hope that you will consider contributing your time and energy again, for this fall and as we continue to change travel norms in the future.
On October 1st and 2nd, we are hosting a pedestrian safety activity with Mr. Bonow’s PE classes. It is modeled on a nationally-recognized program from Boston, and sets small groups of parents out into the “real world” to learn and practice safe pedestrian behavior. I find it much more compelling than the common worksheet-based lessons, but requires a lot of parent volunteers to make it work (10 to 14 each day). Please consider volunteering for one or both of those days, and talk it up among other Sanislo parents — we believe you will get a lot out of it, as well. I’ve attached the flier, which will also come to you via backpack mail. (you can respond to this email to rsvp.)
October 8th is International Walk to School Day. I need to hear from you as to whether or not you would like to have an event on the day and/or a longer campaign, and to what extent you’d like to be involved.
Last but not least, I need to introduce you to Megan Jackson, Feet First’s new Community Organizer! She is a fantastic addition to Feet First, and will be working with us on both of the above activities. You will most likely meet her at the school sometime soon — please say hi!
I hope that school is off to a joyful start for you and your children. I am eager to hear your response to these Go! Project needs.
Thanks.
– Jen
