. . . that parents can check-out books at the Sanislo Library?
. . . that the Sanislo Librarian can recommend books for your child?
. . . that the Sanislo Library has over 10,000 books waiting to be read?
. . . that you can check, from home, to see if we have a book in the Sanislo Library?
Bring your family to Sanislo’s Family Game Night, Thursday November 20, from 6:30-8:30. Bring your favorite game to play and bring another for the exchange table — a great way to recycle games you’ve outgrown or out-played. The PTA will have grilled cheese sandwiches, popcorn, and juice for sale. Family Game Night is a much-loved Sanislo tradition, so if you’re new here, be sure to attend and meet other Sanislo families!
Our wreath sale ends Friday, November 21. This is an important fundraiser as 100% of the profits go to Sanislo’s family support services. Extra order forms are available in the office, and you can also order online at Sanislo.org! Wreaths and garland will be delivered to the school the first week in December. Any questions? Contact Carol Christian at caroberin@comcast.net.

Dear Parents,
Next week we begin parent/teacher conferences and we’re aiming for 100% participation. Teachers spend a great amount of time reassessing students and gathering work samples in preparation for your conference. This is all done to provide you, the parent, with an accurate picture of your child’s current performance level and appropriate next steps. Teachers will also be sharing “Student Learning Plans” with you if your child did not show proficiency on a section of the WASL, or is not at standard for reading in 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade. These plans will help

First Grade: Our reading skill focus is on phonograms -et,-it,-ub, question marks, rhyming, and ending punctuation. In Math we are learning about odd and even numbers, counting by 2’s, 5’s, 3’s, and 10’s, addition and subtraction facts to 10, counting money combinations of 5, and telling time to the hour and half hour. Our focus in Science is on evaporation, the water cycle, and collecting and analyzing data on weather.
2nd Grade: Our second graders now have experience at setting up the chess board, identifying chess pieces, chess etiquette and playing the Pawn Game. Have them show you these things at home if you have a chess board. In Math, we have been working on mental math skills and place value.
This year our wreath & garland sale will benefit Sanislo families in crisis. 100% of the profits go to family support services here at Sanislo. Order forms go home on Monday the 10th and the sale ends on Friday, November 21. Wreaths and garland will be delivered to the school the first week in December. If you have any questions please contact Carol Christian at caroberin@comcast.net.
Last week we sent home a curriculum night survey. The survey provided us with some valuable information that will help inform our future plans. We had around 30 responses and everyone who attended said they would definitely attend again. Everyone felt that the classrooms presentations were clear and helpful, and nearly everyone felt that the time allocated was sufficient. 80% of the parents responding also indicated that they would have liked a presentation by the Principal the same evening, so we will make sure that happens next year. We appreciate the time that many of you who took to return the questionnaire — thank you!
