Teacher Appreciation Week is June 4-8 - This an opportunity for Sanislo families to come together to show our appreciation for our amazing teachers (and administration too!). These are all things that anyone can take part in. For questions, please contact Elisabeth Silver at esilver@ecchorizon.com

  • Monday – Clean up the Teachers Lounge – this will be in the morning.
  • Tuesday – Make a card/bring a flower for your teacher (vases are available at the school, just need to be gathered and set up in each classroom)
  • Wednesday – Breakfast (bring a breakfast item for the teachers, items need to be at the school by 9am – help will also be needed to set up & clean up)
  • Thursday – Dozen Cookies for every teacher – (36 dozen cookies in all = a dozen for each teacher/administrator)
  • Friday – Lunch (bring in a potluck lunch item for our teachers, not sure of the time)

So to repeat, lets all get out there the week of June 4th and let the Sanislo staff know how much we truly appreciate how much EVERYONE at Sanislo does for our children, for us, and for our community.

Captain Sanislo’s Benefit Bash Crib Notes

What is it?
A fancy name for the Annual Fund party.

What’s the Annual Fund?
It’s the primary fund raiser for the Sanislo Elementary PTA. It’s a “direct ask” campaign, where we simply ask for donations. We mail fliers once every school year (it happened back in November) and call on the generosity of Sanislo’s families and friends. The money we raise goes toward education enrichment for our children: educational field trips, tutors, arts enrichment, school supplies, etc. The Sanislo PTA provides around $30,000 worth of support to our school every year.

Why are you having a party?
For two reasons: to finish our fund-raising and to have fun together as a community.

What do you mean “finish your fund-raising”?
So far we’ve received about $3,000 in contributions from our Annual Fund direct-ask campaign. Our goal is $25,000, which means we have a ways to go. This is our third year doing the Annual Fund, and we’ve discovered some people like to wait to donate until our celebration. We’re hoping that’s the case again this year, otherwise at the PTA budget meeting we’ll be chopping lots of stuff out of the budget for the 2012–13 school year.

Why don’t you do auctions like other schools?
Because it’s an enormous amount of work. The Annual Fund is much more simple and direct. And every year our mailing list grows. The hope is that years down the road, parents of former Sanislo students will still be willing to donate a few bucks, creating a broad pool of support for our school.

What’s the party going to be like?
It’s going to be a lot of fun! The Roy Kay Trio will be playing two sets. They’ve released four albums and have toured Europe and the U.S. We’re very lucky to have them! Other details:
• We’re doing this family style: it’s a potluck, so bring a dish to share!
• Wine and beer will be available for purchase.
• There will be a 50-50 raffle…
• …and the popular wine raffle. (Bring a bottle to donate, then buy tickets to win it all! You could go home with 40 bottles of wine!)
• Fun games and prizes
• Make sure to bring cash and/or checks. We won’t be able to accept credit cards.

This is sure to be our most fun Annual Fund party yet! Don’t miss it!

Dear Sanislo Families and Friends,
A diverse and creative education is what we love about Sanislo. Yet each year public funding declines and programs that are essential to this well-rounded education are no longer supported. Music and arts, a well-stocked library, and outdoor education would not exist if Sanislo relied solely on public funding. They will only survive because of contributions from our community.

OUR CHILDREN NEED YOUR HELP

Our new Annual Fund Drive will ensure that the programs that make Sanislo unique continue to flourish. Library books, educational field trips, tutoring, music, arts and PE equipment all rely on our support. Your tax-deductible donation to the Annual Fund contributes directly to a rich and diverse education for our children.

EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS

Our Annual Fund goal for this school year is $35,000. We can only reach that goal with everyone’s commitment to the Sanislo community. Please make your tax-deductible donation today! You can make a secure online donation using PayPal (credit cards accepted). Choose a one-time payment or a recurring monthly payment if you’re able. No donation is too small or too large! With the support of caring Sanislo families, friends, alumni and neighbors, this year’s Annual Fund Drive will be a great success.

Sanislo’s students, teachers and parents thank you!
