A reminder from our librarian to please, please, please scour the house, look under the beds and check out the car for any school library books you may have. (And also don’t forget to sign up for Seattle Public Libraries’ great summer reading program at your local branch!)
. . . that parents can check-out books at the Sanislo Library?
. . . that the Sanislo Librarian can recommend books for your child?
. . . that the Sanislo Library has over 10,000 books waiting to be read?
. . . that you can check, from home, to see if we have a book in the Sanislo Library?
The Dessert Auction is a remarkably profitable — and yummy — part of our Auction. Can you either help procure professional desserts or bake one of your own? Each dessert needs to be for 12 guests, and we need approximately 23. Please contact Lisa Keith, PTA secretary, at granolagulch[at]earthlink[dot]net if you can help.
We are going to meet on Saturday AM for a final procurement sweep of neighborhoods in West Seattle for businesses that have not yet donated to our Auction: Alki, Alaska Junction, Admiral Junction, Westwood. Please call Ashley if you have an hour to share for our Auction. Please wear your Sanislo T-shirt and/or have your child wear his/hers and join you.
You can reach Ashley @ alidolly[at]gmail[dot]com or by tele at three-six-nine-five-seven-nine-seven
In the “great news” dept., our librarian, Maryann Horsley won a “One Book, One Community” grant from the Washington Secretary of State’s office. You may be familiar with similar programs sponsored by the Seattle Public Library (the “Seattle Reads” program, formerly “What if all Seattle read one book?”). The community surrounding Sanislo will be encouraged to participate. We will be kicking off the events here at Sanislo the evening of Wednesday, March 19. Maryann needs volunteers to assist with set up, greeting, passing out books and clean up. We’ll also need volunteers for the final event — kite making with the community here at the school the afternoon of Sunday, April 27. If you can help out, or if you know of or are part of an organization that would like to donate refreshments, materials or time to this project, please contact our librarian Maryann: mehorsley[at]seattleschools[dot]org.
Our librarian, Maryann Horsley, welcomes you to a new & exciting school year!… There are various things that need to be done on a continual basis even if you only have an hour or two per week. Please contact her at (206) 252-8402, or e-mail mehorsley@seattleschools.org. Volunteering your time helps her keep the library humming, and gives Ms. Horsley more time to support our students and staff.
