If you have any used books in good condition to donate, place them in the box in the front office area. Our 4th Graders are sponsoring a book sale to raise money for their environmental field trip this spring. The more books we collect, the more successful our event will be!
Will be arriving on Today, Dec. 3rd. There are a few extras, so if you didn’t get your order in and would still like one, they will be available on a first come, first served basis, contact Carol Christian at caroberin@ comcast.net . If you didn’t want a wreath, but you would still like to help out families in need at Sanislo, you can make a donation check out to the Sanislo PTA and write “for family services” in the info line, and drop it in the gold PTA box in the front entry.
The PTA will be selling beautiful and affordable holiday wreaths and garlands to benefit Family Support. All profits will go to help families in need in the Sanislo community. The sale will run from November 6th through November 20th. Wreaths and garlands will be delivered to Sanislo the week of November 30. You may order using the attached order form or order online at Sanislo.org. If you have any questions please contact Carol Christian at caroberin@comcast.net.
Starting in November there will be a monthly Box Tops classroom competition. Every month Antje Staudt, our Box Tops coordinator, will calculate which classroom has collected the most Box Tops and that class will get a treat! Please make sure the expiration date is not cut off or the box top will not count!!! The classroom with the most box tops by the end of the year will win an ice cream party. The kids will also get to vote on how to spend the money earned at the end of the year (each one earns 10 cents). For more information on this program and coupons, go to boxtops4education.com. Thanks for heading this up, Antje!
The Safety Patrol bake sale on curriculum night brought in over $195! This money will be used to purchase new items needed to help ensure the safety of the patrol kids and pedestrians. Thanks to all the parents that came and supported curriculum night and the bake sale!
The annual fund is here! This is our major fund-raiser this year, and our goal is $35,000. (There will be no auction this year.) Please remember to turn in the address forms you received last week! We need your help to build a list of potential donors. People whose addresses we received will be sent a brochure describing Sanislo and the impact their donation will have for our school. Please remember that donations in any amount will help! Forms are due to your child’s teacher Friday, Oct. 30th. Holy cow, that’s TOMORROW! If you have more than one child at Sanislo, just fill out one form (there’s room for all your kids’ names) and have your oldest child turn it in. We need you to make this a success—thank you in advance for taking a little time to do this! Some folks have even already sent in a donation—THANK
YOU!

This is our major fundraiser for the year, replacing the auction. Please remember to turn in the address forms you received last week! We need your help to build a list of potential donors so we can send out our brochures soon. Forms are due back to your child’s teacher by Friday, October 30th. If you have more than one child at Sanislo, just fill out one form (there’s room for both your kids’ names) and have your oldest child turn it in. Thanks for you helping make our first Annual Fund Drive a success!
Thank you to all our great kids and volunteers! The sun shined, Mr. Bonow donned his wacky wig, the music blared and our kids ran, jogged and walked to great success: not only did we have fun, but our kids raised over $5000 for the school in the process. Way to go! Thanks especially to coordinator Angie Erdman — we appreciate all she did to make this event once again run smoothly.
Thank you again to Sherry Bay-Santiago: when she saw our fund-raising numbers coming in short of expectations, she decided to do something about it by trying out the first-ever Sanislo cookie dough fundraiser. Between her hard work and all of yours, we raised over $2400 in profit to add to our accounts. Thank you all!
We were thankful that in addition to the great news that none of our teachers were RIF’d this year, there were also no major cuts in either the school or the PTA budgets this year. The basic PTA and school budgets look very similar to last year’s, with our continued support to supplement the school budget, as well as our funding for classroom teacher budgets, buses for field trips, family support, clubs, etc. For more information contact Dartanyon Race at dartanyon[at]gmail[dot]com.
