Thanks to everyone who helped make our 11th annual JAT such a fantastic event. The sun graced us during the action and our kids ran/walked their hearts out to to raise a total of $4500. 4th Grader Zach Ellinger-Keith has the distinction of raising the most money two years in a row and won a pair of Wild Waves tickets. Mr. Femiano’s 2nd grade class raised the most money, $840, AND ran the most average laps (K-2), so they’ll celebrate with a pizza and ice cream party. Our 4th grade classes tied for the most average laps (3-5) and won an ice cream party. Thanks again to all who helped and especially to our student runners… you’re the BEST! One more thank-you to Angie Erdman, who coordinated the event — Thanks, Angie, for all your hard work.
We are so grateful to the support from Touratech USA, Grand Central Bakery and Tibbetts United Methodist Church for Sanislo’s Science Fair. Thank you! Your help with loaning tables and transportation saved us a few hundred dollars that can go towards more exciting things for our kids than rental fees.

Mr. Sundquist extends an invitation to parents and other interested parties to discuss school district business in an informal setting. The next coffee is scheduled for September 23rd at 9 am at Uptown Espresso, 4301 SW Edmunds Street in West Seattle. In his invitation he writes, “The meetings provide a great opportunity to keep you apprised of our progress and to hear directly from you about opportunities and concerns and how we can all work better and together for our students.” The upcoming neighborhood- based student assignment plan (to be instituted next fall) and planning for operations and capital projects levies are sure to be topics of conversation. We hope to see other Sanislo parents there.
Be on the lookout for information about how you can help out with the annual student BBQ and Field Day, tomorrow, the 12th. The BBQ is from 11:45-12:30, and families are welcome to join the kids. Lunch is $2.25 for kids and $4 for adults. Parent help with Field Day is always welcome, as well. See the sign-up sheet on Ms. Nelson’s window for volunteer opportunities.
Thank you to all our great kids and volunteers! The sun shined, Mr. Bonow donned his wacky wig, the music blared and our kids ran, jogged and walked to great success: not only did we have fun, but our kids raised over $5000 for the school in the process. Way to go! Thanks especially to coordinator Angie Erdman — we appreciate all she did to make this event once again run smoothly.
Thanks for the coverage from the West Seattle Blog

Thanks to Feet First for sharing photos from this morning’s trash pickup involving Sanislo Elementary School students who gathered at the Southwest Precinct for a special-mission walk to school – part of the Go! Project, a Safe Routes to School Program funded by the state Department of Transportation and facilitated by Feet First. We took you along earlier this month during another special Safe Routes to School event with Sanislo families (here’s our coverage) and they’ve been doing something special every week all month long.

Lisa Quinn from Feet First tells WSB they picked up 20 pounds of trash this morning!
